Ann Berline started Berbank and Company in 1993 as an importer of sand-cast aluminum from Mexico. The company enjoyed rapid growth in its early years selling primarily through a direct marketing effort. During one of her three-time a year visits to factories Ann discussed the possibility of creating molds for pieces she had or would have designed. As each of these items is handcrafted by artisans each piece is unique. After working with several factories Ann identified suppliers that could produce molds and finished products that met her high standard of quality. Initially several contributing artists created drawings that would become BERBANK ORIGINALS and a new market was identified. In addition to the direct marketing efforts, products were now being sold into the retail segment.
From there the company engaged in soliciting licensing agreements for Colleges and the development of corporate, non-profit, awards, resorts and Country Club personalized products. Given the uniqueness of the product, the great value and the low minimum production requirements, this portion of the businesses is enjoying rapid and consistent growth. Berbank & Company’s has established a loyal following among caterers due to the practicality of these products and the great value. Berbank & Company offers a wide selection of caterer size trays and accent pieces. At the encouragement of several local caterers and local organizations, Ann was encouraged to take her creative flair and share her visions by offering an event planning/coordination service. Thus, in 2007 Berbank Party Rentals and Event Planning was created.
From the outset, the founder said “if we are going to do this, we are going to do it right”. Not satisfied with the ‘me too’ philosophy of the rental business, Ann is determined to make every rental event unique for the client. “We will offer unparalleled customer service and we will provide what the customer wants to make their event as special as them.”
